Articulated Trucks 735(AWR1-450), 740(AXM1-857), 740 Ejector(AZZ1-293)
Component Code(s) 4263SUBJECT: Increase Precharge When Replacing Service Brake Accumulator
PROBLEM:
Service brake accumulators on 735, 740 and 740 Ejector Articulated Trucks have been reported to fail to hold the charge.
SOLUTION:
If the service brake accumulator has failed, on machines AWR1-450, AXM1-855 and AZZ1-293 (machines with hydraulic slack adjusters), then replace both service brake accumulators with two new 174-3199 Accumulators.
The 174-3199 Accumulator is the service replacement that is available through the parts system. The 174-3199 Accumulator is supplied in an uncharged state. Precharge this accumulator to 5600kPa (810psi). This is an increase in the precharge over the previous value.
For the procedure to charge the 174-3199 Accumulator, refer to Testing and Adjusting, RENR5129, "735,740 and 740 Ejector Articulated Trucks Braking System", "Brake Accumulator (Service) ? Test and Charge".
THIS NEW PRECHARGE CANNOT BE USED ON MACHINES AFTER THE LISTED SERIAL NUMBERS.
If you experience a failure on AWR451-Up, AXM856-Up or AZZ294-Up (machines without hydraulic slack adjusters), repair with the 174-3199 Accumulator and precharge TO THE EXISTING VALUE OF 3100kPa (450psi).
