ACTION REQUIRED
Refer to the appropriate Service Manual as necessary for proper tightening procedure.
An engine rotating tool may be required to hold the crankshaft from rotating while tightening the fastners.
Tighten the fasteners on the vibration damper to the appropriate torque specifications shown in Image1 and Image2.
For engines in Group 1 of the affected product, tighten fastners to the torque shown in Image1.
For engines in Group 2 of the affected product, tighten fastners to the torque shown in Image2.

The vibration damper fastners need to be tightened to the appropriate torque on the products listed below. The fastners were improperly tightened during assembly. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 23Sep2008 when scheduling this service.
