This test procedure is intended to determine the maximum and the minimum hydraulic fan speed.This procedure includes the following tests and the following adjustment procedures:

Move the machine to a smooth, horizontal location. Move the machine away from other operating machines and away from personnel. Place the transmission direction control switch in the NEUTRAL position.
Engage the parking brake. Lower the work tools to the ground. Stop the engine and put chocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels.
Inspect the hoses to the fan drive for damage. Inspect all of the connectors for the fan drive for damage. Inspect all of the components for the fan drive for damage.
Illustration 2 g03587239Note: Each fan comes with a factory installed piece of reflective tape on one of the fan blades. Apply a new piece of tape if a new piece of tape is required.
Swing the rear fan open (1) to gain access to the fan if a new piece of tape is required.
Attach reflective tape to the rear side of fan.
Swing the fan assembly (1) closed and make sure that the fan assembly is latched.
Install the 9U-7400 Multitach Tool Gp Tool Group (D) on the grill assembly (1). Test Procedure for Minimum Fan Speed
Start the engine and run the engine at high idle. Use the throttle lock in order to maintain high idle. Note: To ensure the proper operation of the cooling system, the doors for the engine enclosure should be closed while the test procedures are conducted.
Engage the parking brake.
Allow the brake accumulators to charge.
Measure the fan speed before the engine reaches normal operating temperature.
