Introduction
Swing motor (4) is driven by pressure oil from left pump (39). When the swing control lever is moved, swing parking brake (3) is released. Rotary group (6) then begins to rotate.The swing drive is installed on the upper structure. Before the swing drive rotates the upper structure, the drive reduces the motor speed by two stages of gear reduction. Swing Right Operation

(8) Line (9) Line (18) Swing control valveWhen the control lever is moved to the SWING RIGHT position, pilot oil from pilot control valve (35) flows through pilot line (29) to swing control valve (18). The stem in swing control valve (18) shifts. This connects passages (17) and (19). Pump oil is supplied to passage (19) through parallel feeder passage (28) and load check valve (25). Pump oil then goes through swing control valve (18) to passage (17). The oil then flows through line (8) to rotary group (6) .Return oil from rotary group (6) goes through line (9) to swing control valve (18). The oil also flows through return passage (23) to return line (11). Rotary group (6) rotates, and the upper structure swings to the right.Swing Left Operation
For swing left operation, pilot oil flows through pilot line (32) and into swing control valve (18). The stem in swing control valve (18) shifts upward. Pump oil in parallel feeder passage (28) flows through passage (19), passage (16), and line (9). Pump oil then enters rotary group (6). For swing left operation, the oil supply ports and return ports are the reverse of the ports for swing right operation. This causes the upper structure to swing to the left.
