All Machines
If adjuster travel cannot correct chain tension, an offset link can be used. An offset link can replace two links to decrease slack, or be added to the chain to increase slack.
Be sure offset links are installed in pairs, one on each chain between the same two elevator flights.
(61)Ejector Carrier And Guide Rollers
Lower bowl, move ejector forward, set parking brake and stop engine.
To adjust carrier rollers, loosen shaft clamp bolt (A). Rotate shaft (B) to position roller. Tighten shaft clamp bolt. To adjust guide rollers, loosen shaft clamp bolt (A). Rotate shaft (B) to position roller. Tighten shaft clamp bolt.Rollers are properly adjusted when ejector moves freely without draging or binding.(62)Cutting Edges And Router Bits
Block bowl before changing cutting edges or router bits.
Do not attempt to increase wear life by hard surface welding on cutting edges. This can result in premature failure.
After removing cutting edges, or router bits, clean all mounting surfaces before installing new edges or bits, or rotating used ones. See chart for BOLT TORQUES FOR CUTTING EDGES when mounting cutting edges or router bits.Cutting Edges
With two edges to each section, double wear can be obtained by rotating each edge. Remove bolts. Rotate edge 180°. Install bolts. By exchanging sides, the end section can be used four times to extend life. Remove bolts, install edges on opposite sides. Install bolts.Cutting Edge Teeth
To prevent personal injury to eyes, wear protective glasses when striking pin.The pin, when struck, can fly out and cause injury to nearby personnel.
Later Machines
1. Drive pin out of tooth through side opposite washer. Remove tooth and washer. 2. Clean shank, pin and washer. 3. Install washer in groove and install tooth. (Tooth may be rotated 180° for more or less penetration for digging, as required.) 4. Install pin from side of tooth opposite washer.5. Center pin in the tooth.Early Machines
1. Drive pin out from top. 2. Slide tooth off and clean shank. Install tooth. Be sure metal part of pin backup spacer is toward pin hole. Install pin. (Tooth may be rotated 180°, as required, for more or less penetration. With pin holes aligned, drive pin until top is even with top of tooth.Router Bits
1. With two edges to each router bit, double wear can be obtained by rotating bits 180° and mounting on opposite side.2. Remove mounting bolts and router bits.3. Clean all mounting surfaces.4. Install new or rotated bits.(63)Operator's Seat Accumulator (46P1 to 46P937)
Test nitrogen precharge pressure.Contact your Caterpillar dealer for testing procedure and correct pressure.(64)Cushion Hitch Accumulator
Test nitrogen precharge pressure.Contact your Caterpillar dealer for testing procedure and correct pressure.(65)Seat Belt
Seat belt must be replaced every 3 years regardless of appearance.
Inspect condition of seat belt and attaching hardware. Replace belt, or attaching hardware, if worn or damaged.(66)Air Conditioner
1. To clean recirculating filters, loosen thumbscrews and remove panel at top of cab. 2. Remove the 2 sponge-type filters.3. Wash the filters in clean warm water and a household detergent.4. Rinse in clean water.5. Allow to dry. Install filters and install panel. 6.
