Move the turbine to one side of the bore in ring (4) so the side of the turbine is against the inside of ring (4).4. Fasten a dial indicator to the stator on the opposite side of the point of contact with the contact point on the turbine.5. Move the turbine to the other side of the bore in ring (4) toward the dial indicator.6. Measure the distance moved with the dial indicator. Put torque converter assembly so the input end of shaft (8) is up.2. Remove the stator assembly (10).3. Pull impeller (5) up against bearing (7) and hold against bearing.
Do not move bearing (7) on shaft (8).
4. Using a depth micrometer, measure the distance from the top of the impeller (5) through hole (12) to the impeller (9). A measurement of 1.536 .010 in. (39.0 0.25 mm) will give the correct clearance between the impeller rim and turbine.5. If measured dimension (9) is too small, remove shims (13). If measured dimension (9) is too large add shims (13).
