Valves must be assembled to steering gear before adjustments can be made.The valve spool must be centered in the valve body to insure equal spool movement and oil flow to steering cylinder ports for both right and left turns. Incorrect adjustment will result in a continual drift in one direction when attempting to steer straight ahead. Unusual steering may exist between left and right turns.The valve spool can be moved into the body by rotating valve spool clockwise and moved out by counterclockwise rotation.1. Remove cover (1), retainer (2), and cover and gasket (3).2. Loosen the bolt (6).3. Put the steering valve actuator assembly at the middle point, (centered).4. Hold a straight edge across the end of the spool (4) and sleeve (5).5. Put a wide screwdriver in the slot in the end of the spool (4) and turn the spool as needed to make it even with the end of the sleeve (5).6. Hold the spool from turning with the screwdriver and tighten the bolt (6) to a torque of 35 to 40 lb. ft. (45 to 55 N m).7. Install the retainer (2), cover (1), and cover and gasket (3).8. Follow steps one through seven to adjust the other valve.
