Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the fuel priming pump.
Remove the auxiliary oil cooler.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the coolant into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

Remove bolts (1) and remove filter base and filter assembly (2).

Remove bolts (3) and remove tube assembly (4). There are four bolts in total. Remove gasket (not shown) and O-ring seals (not shown).

Support oil cooler assembly (9). The weight of the oil cooler assembly is approximately 40 kg (88 lb). Remove bolts (7) and bolts (8). Remove bolts (9) There are four bolts in total. Slide oil cooler assembly (10) towards the rear of the engine to disengage the oil cooler assembly at position (A), then remove oil cooler assembly (9). Remove O-ring seals and gaskets (not shown). Installation Procedure
Install oil cooler assembly (9) in the reverse order of removal.
Lubricate the bores for the O-ring seals lightly with clean unused engine oil.
