There have been isolated instances of the high flow 342-8945 Pump Kit impeller (2) becoming loose on the shaft (1) .A loose impeller or a fracture to the impeller will cause a drop in coolant flow and can cause coolant to leak from the exhaust gas cooler (NRS). The engine will operate with a high coolant temperature due to insufficient coolant flow through the engine.A new design of water pump has been introduced. The new design of water pump has improved impeller durability and improved bearing sealing.Adaptable To: New 397-5682 Pump Kit replaces 342-8945 Pump Kit .For the removal of the water pump refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Water Pump - Remove". For information on installing the water pump refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Water Pump - Install.".
