Information:

START BY:a) remove timing gear coverb) remove automatic timing advance 1. Make sure No. 1 cylinder is at top center on the compression stroke before any gears are removed. The "V" on idler gear (3) should be in alignment with the "V" mark on the crankshaft gear. The "K" marks on the camshaft gear can be seen at outer edges of the idler gear.2. Remove bolts (1). Plate (2) and idler gear (3) from the shaft. 3. Remove bearing (4) from the idler gear. 4. Use tooling (A) and remove camshaft gear (5) from the camshaft.
Do not turn the crankshaft with camshaft gear removed. Damage can be caused to pistons and valves or both.
5. Remove bolts (6) and retainer (7) from the timing gear plate. 6. Remove bolts (8), timing gear plate (9) and the gasket from the cylinder block.Install Timing Gears And Plate
1. Make sure all gasket surfaces are clean and free of dirt. 2. Install new gasket (2) and timing gear plate (1) on the cylinder block. Cut the gasket to make it even with the bottom of the cylinder block. 3. Install retainer (3) on the timing gear plate. 4. Make sure the key is in position in the camshaft.5. Heat camshaft gear (4) to a maximum temperature of 315°C (600°F). Make an alignment of camshaft gear (4) and the key and install the gear on the camshaft. 6. Use tool group (A) and install the bearing 1.5 0.5 mm (.06 .02 in.) below the outside surface of idler gear (5) small gear side.7. The inside diameter of the bearing after assembly must 63.602 0.038 mm (2.504 0.024 in.). 8. Put idler gear (5) in position on the shaft.9. Make sure the "V" mark on idler gear (5) is in alignment with the "V" mark on the crankshaft gear and the "K" marks on the camshaft gear can be seen at the outer edges of the idler gear. 10. Install plate (6) and the bolts that hold idler gear (5) in place on the shaft.END BY:a) install timing gear coverb) install automatic timing advance
