Personal injury can result from hot coolant, steam and alkali.At operating temperature, engine coolant is hot and under pressure. The radiator and all lines to heaters or the engine contain hot coolant or steam. Any contact can cause severe burns.Remove cooling system pressure cap slowly to relieve pressure only when engine is stopped and cooling system pressure cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Do not attempt to tighten hose connections when the coolant is hot, the hose can come off causing burns.Cooling System Coolant Additive contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

Remove tube assembly (1) .
Remove gear (2) .

Remove bolts (3) and remove water pump (4) .

Remove bolts (5) and remove cover (8) and O-ring seal (9) .
Use Tooling (A) and a suitable press to remove shaft assembly (11) from impeller (6) and housing (7) .
Use Tooling (A) and a suitable press to remove seal assembly (10) from shaft assembly (11) .
Use Tooling (A) and a suitable press to remove hub (12) from shaft assembly (11) .Installation Procedure
Install water pump (4) in reverse order.

Use Tooling (B) and a suitable press to install seal assembly (10) in housing (7). The operating Height (C) of seal assembly (10) is 12.19 0.13 mm (0.480 0.005 inch).
Use Tooling (A) and a suitable press to install impeller (6) onto shaft assembly (11). The operating Height (D) of impeller (6) is 8.97 0.25 mm (0.350 0.010 inch).
Position pulley (2) and install the bolts. The Distance (E) from the inside groove of the water pump pulley to the face of the housing should be 136.40 0.300 mm (5.370 0.012 inch).
