23. Slide rubber boot (34) up the steering column. Remove pin (44) and tube (43). Disconnect air hose assemblies (48) and (49) from the parking brake valve.24. Put identification marks on the steering column to locate clamp assembly (46) for correct assembly. Remove the two bolts and clamp (47). Remove parking brake valve assembly (45) and clamp assembly (46) as a unit. 25. Remove four bolts (50) and the eight rubber mounts, and disconnect hand metering pump (51) from the steering column. 26. Remove four nuts (52) that hold the steering column assembly to the cab floor. 27. Remove two bolts (54). Remove bracket (53), the roller, the spacer and the nut as a unit so that the steering column can be lowered through the cab floor. 28. Lower the steering column assembly through the cab floor, and remove brackets (55) and (56). 29. Remove bearing (57) from brackets (55) and (56). 30. Remove steering column assembly (58) from the machine. 31. Remove rubber boot (34) from the steering column.32. Remove the two bolts and bracket assembly (61) from the steering column.33. Remove two bolts (59) and two bolts (62). Remove plate (63) and housing (60) from the steering column.Assemble And Install Adjustable Steering Column
1. Put housing (5) and plate (2) in position on the steering column, and install four bolts (4) that hold them in place.2. Put bracket assembly (3) in position on the steering column, and install the two bolts that hold it in place.3. Put rubber boot (1) in position on the steering column as shown. 4. Put steering column assembly (6) in position through the hole in the cab floor as shown. 5. Use tooling (A), and install bearing (8) in both brackets (7). 6. Put 5P960 Multipurpose Type Grease on the bearings in brackets (7).7. Put brackets (7) in position on the steering column assembly.8. Raise the steering column assembly into position, and install the washers and nuts (9) that hold it in place. Tighten the nuts to a torque of 45 5 N m (33 4 lb.ft.). 9. Move the steering column toward the instrument panel until the lever engages with bracket assembly (3).10. Put bracket (10), the spacer, the roller and the nut in position as a unit, and install two bolts (11) that hold them in place. 11. Put hand metering pump (13) in position on the steering column, and install the eight rubber mounts and four bolts (12) that connect it to the steering column. 12. Put parking brake valve (14) and clamp assembly (16) in position on the steering column as a unit. Align clamp assembly (16) with the identification marks put on the steering column in Step 24 of the disassembly. Hole (V) in clamp assembly (16) must be 138 mm (5.43 in.) from the center of the steering column bearing journal (Z). See photo number B98403P1 on page 27. Put clamp (19) in position, and install the two bolts that hold it in place.13.
