Remove fourteen mounting bolts (11) that are used to retain cover (24). The top three bolts cannot be removed without removing the entire valve. These bolts should just be loosened. Remove bolt (25) from the transmission control valve.
Slide the 139-7050 Cover Plate under cover (24). The U-shaped slots should be facing upward so that the bolt holes line up with the holes in the plate.
Tighten the mounting bolts (11) to 30 4 N m (22 3 lb ft). Tighten bolt (25) to a torque of 30 4 N m (22 3 lb ft).
Install the pressure gauge on test port (8) and on test port (5).
Operate the engine at high idle with the transmission control in NEUTRAL. Record the pressures from the gauges in Table 2. Remove the gauges.
Install the pressure gauge on test port (6) and on test port (7).
Operate the engine at high idle in FIRST GEAR FORWARD. Record the gauge pressures in Table 2. Remove the gauges.
Install the pressure gauge on test port (4).
Operate the engine at high idle in SECOND GEAR FORWARD. Record the gauge pressures in Table 2. Remove the gauges.
Compare Table 2 to Table 3. If the initial pressures are not within specifications, proceed to Step 12.
Install the pressure gauge on test port (6) and on test port (7).
Operate the engine at high idle with the transmission control (lever) in FIRST GEAR FORWARD. Monitor the pressure.
Loosen locknut (16) on adjuster (15). Also, loosen the locknut on the adjuster directly behind adjuster (23).
Turn adjustment screw (17) in order to adjust the pressure of number six clutch pack. Turn adjustment screw directly behind adjuster (23) in order to adjust the pressure of number seven clutch pack. To lower the pressure, turn the adjustment screw clockwise. The adjustment screw will change the pressure approximately 132 kPa (19 psi). Note: If the pressure of
