Power supply circuitsThis diagnostic code is associated with the voltage that is supplied to the all wheel drive (AWD) ECM. FMI 03 means that the ECM has detected above normal voltage. The AWD ECM activates this diagnostic code when the system voltage is above 32.0 VDC.Following are the possible causes of this diagnostic code:
Charging system component failure
Harness failure
ECM failureNote: Before performing this procedure, inspect the harness connectors involved in the circuit. Poor connections can be the cause of a problem in an electrical circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean, secure, and in good condition. If a problem with a connection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure. Test Step 1. CHECK SYSTEM VOLTAGE AT THE ECM
Turn off the disconnect switch and the keyswitch.
At the J1 harness connector for the AWD ECM, insert a 7X-1710 Multimeter Probes along the contact J1-31 (wire 155-RD). Use the other multimeter probe to make contact to frame ground.
Turn on the disconnect switch.
Start the engine.
Run the engine at half throttle.
Measure the voltage between contact J1-31 (wire 155-RD) and frame ground.
Move the multimeter probe from frame ground to the J1 harness connector for the AWD ECM, contact J1-13 (wire A201-BK).
Measure the voltage between contact J1-31 (wire 155-RD) and contact J1-13 (wire A201-BK).Expected Result:Both voltages are approximately the same voltage. Both voltages are 18.0 VDC to 32.0 VDC.Results:
OK - Both voltages are approximately the same voltage. Both voltages are 18.0 VDC to 32.0 VDC. Proceed to Test Step 5.
NOT OK - All voltages are approximately the same voltage, but the voltages are greater than 32.0 VDC. The system voltage is above normal. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - The voltage from the positive battery contact to the frame ground is in the range of 18.0 VDC to 32.0 VDC. But the voltage between the ECM positive battery contact and the ECM negative battery contact is not in the correct range. The ground circuit may have failed. Proceed to Test Step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK THE GROUND CIRCUITS
Turn off the keyswitch and the disconnect switch.
Disconnect the J1 harness connector from the ECM.
At the J1 harness connector for the ECM, measure the resistance between each of the four negative battery contacts and frame ground.Expected Result:Each resistance is less than 5.0 ohms. Results:
OK - Each resistance is less than 5.0 ohms. The ground circuit is correct. Repair: Reconnect the J1 harness connector to the ECM before proceeding to the next test step. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - A resistance is greater than 5.0 ohms. There is an open circuit or a poor connection in the ground circuit.Repair: The open or the poor connection is in the ECM wire A201-BK in the harness. See the machine Electrical Schematic. Visually inspect the rear frame ground point of wire A201-BK. Verify that the ground connection is clean and verify that the ground connection is tight. Visually inspect all of the connectors and the splices that
