Insert the probe at an angle of 45 degrees.
Insert the probe in the evaporator coil at the angle of 45 degrees that is shown in Illustration 2. Use the dimensions that are shown in Illustration 1 for the correct location of the probe. Insert the probe to a depth of 82 mm (3.25 inch). Secure a cable strap to the probe. The cable strap prevents the probe from being inserted too deeply.

Procure the parts that are listed in Table 1.
Remove the 168-4605 Control Panel Gp. Insert a thin blade screwdriver in the slot in order to release the spring loaded clips on each end of the control panel. The panel can be easily removed when the clips are released.
Unplug the 4-pin connector. The short harness to the control panel may require the use of a screwdriver in order to release the retainer clip on the electrical DT connector.
Plug the 4-pin connector to the 232-4958 Test Circuit Assembly .
Turn the starter key switch ON. The 232-4958 Test Circuit Assembly will power up the heating and air conditioning control and the blower fan. The time that is required is less than 15 seconds.
Turn the starter key switch OFF.
Unplug the 232-4958 Test Circuit Assembly. Reconnect the control panel to the 4-pin connector. The reprogramming of the controller is complete.Note: Perform Steps 8, 9, and 10 in order to verify that the update of the controller has been successfully completed.
Turn the starter key switch ON. Press the ON knob on the control panel.
Press the automatic temperature control switch and the fan speed knob. The control panel will display the parameter codes on the LCD panel.
Check parameter value 08P. The cutoff temperature for the compressor should be -0.5 °C (31 °F).
The reprogramming of the 171-2545 Control or the 233-9518 Control will change the control to a 231-2790 Control. Use a 8C-3756 Film and record the dealer code and the date in the field for the sequence number. Attach the new film to the control.
