Place a solid steel block (1) between the rear of equalizer arm (2) and the suspension stops on both sides of the machine. Use a 50.80 mm (2.00 inch) block that is 102 mm (4.00 inch) in length.

Install Tooling (A) under the rear axle. Use Tooling (A) to raise the rear of the machine.

Disconnect hose assemblies (3) and (4). Disconnect drive shaft (5) from the rear of the center axle.

Disconnect drive shaft (6) from the front of the center axle. Disconnect hose assemblies (7), (8), (9), (10), (11), and (12).

Remove bolts (13) and (14). Remove guard (15). Repeat for the other side.
Remove the tire and rim for the center axle. Use the following procedure to remove the tire and rim for the center axle.

Raise the truck body. Secure the truck body in the raised position with Tooling (B). Use two people to position Tooling (B). The weight of Tooling (B) is approximately 37 kg (80 lb).

Attach a suitable lifting device to tire and rim (16) of the center axle. The weight of the tire and rim (16) is approximately 862 kg (1900 lb). Remove lug nuts (17) and remove tire and rim (16).

Place Tooling (C) under suspension frame (22). Disconnect grease hose assembly (18). Remove bolt (19), nut (20), and washer (21).

Remove pin (23).

Attach Tooling (D) and a suitable lifting device to each side of center axle assembly (24). The weight of center axle assembly (24) is approximately 2487 kg (5485 lb).

Remove bolts (26) to disconnect mount assembly (25) from center axle assembly (24).

Use the suitable lifting device and Tooling (C) to lower center axle assembly (24) and suspension frame (22) to the ground as a unit.Installation Procedure
Install center suspension frame (1) in the reverse order of removal.
Tighten bolt (19) and nut (18) to a torque of 800 100 N m (590 75 lb ft)
Tighten bolts (21) to a torque of 460 60 N m (340 45 lb ft).
