Disassembly Procedure
Start By:
Remove the fuel filter base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Filter (Secondary) and Fuel Filter Base - Remove" for the correct procedure.Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal components.

Position fuel filter base assemblies (2) and (3) and pump adapter (1), as shown. Remove four bolts (4) and the washers that hold pump adapter (1) to fuel filter base assembly (2). Remove pump adapter (1) from fuel filter base assembly (2) .

Remove four bolts (5), the washers, and the nuts that hold fuel filter base assembly (2) to fuel filter base assembly (3). Separate fuel filter base assembly (2) from fuel filter base assembly (3) .

Remove four O-ring seals (6) from fuel filter base assemblies (2) and (3) .

Position fuel filter base assembly (2), as shown. Remove oil filter shield (8), drive screw (9), and taperlock stud (7) from fuel filter base assembly (2). Repeat this procedure for the remaining fuel filter base assembly.
