Change Prefilter
Use a container to catch the fuel when the prefilter is removed.1. Loosen hose clamps (1).2. Remove and discard prefilter (2).3. Install new prefilter.4. Tighten the hose clamps.Change Filter
1. Remove the engine cover.
Typical Example2. Remove and discard the fuel filter.3. Clean the filter mounting base. Be sure all of the old seal is removed.4. Coat the seal of a new filter with clean diesel fuel.5. Install the new filter by hand.6. Start the engine and check for leaks. Stop the engine and repair any leaks.7. Install the engine cover.Clean Priming Pump Screen
1. Remove the lower engine cover. 2. Remove the priming pump cover and gasket.3. Remove the screen and clean with a clean, nonflammable solvent.4. Install the screen and the priming pump cover.5. Start the engine and check for leaks. Stop the engine and repair any leaks. If engine does not start, prime the fuel system. See the following topic, Priming the Fuel System.6. 1. Loosen return fuel line (1) and direct the loose end into a container to catch the fuel.2. Operate priming lever (2) until fuel flows free of air bubbles from the return line.3. Tighten the return fuel line.
