Introduction
This instruction gives the installation instructions and a list of parts needed to install the improved upper radiator mounts on earlier model D8L and D9L tractors. The improved mounts provide increased strength, easier assembly, and good access to the mounting bolts. The improved mount will increase the service life of radiators.Reference: Service ManualNecessary Parts
Installation procedure for improved upper radiator mounts
D8L Tractors
Location of components for improved radiator mounts on D8L Tractors1. Slide mount assemblies (9) into the upper clamps on the radiator side channels. Install, but do not tighten bolts (6) and washers (7) in the clamps.2. Install bracket assemblies (3) on mount assemblies (9) with bolts (4) and nuts (5). Tighten nuts (5) to a torque of 360 50 N m (265 35 lb ft). Turn bracket assemblies (3) so that the vertical flat surface is toward the front of the radiator.3. Install blocks (8) on the inside of the radiator guard with the original bolts. Do not tighten the bolts. The cutout on blocks (8) should be toward the side of the radiator guard.4. Carefully move the radiator into the radiator guard until brackets (3) are against blocks (8). Move brackets (3) until the slotted holes in the brackets are in alignment with the tapped holes in blocks (8).5. Install, but do not tighten, bolts (1) and washers (2) that fasten brackets (3) to blocks (8).6. Tighten the bolts that fasten blocks (8) to the radiator guard, to a torque of 200 25 N m (150 20 lb ft).7. Tighten bolts (1), that fasten brackets (3) to blocks (8), to a torque of 200 25 N m (150 20 lb ft).8. Tighten bolts (6) on the clamps to a torque of 45 7 N m (32 5 lb ft).D9L Tractors
1. Slide mount assemblies (9) into the upper clamps on the radiator side channels. Install but do not tighten bolts (6) and washers (7) in the clamps.2. Install bracket assemblies (3) on mount assemblies (9) with bolts (4) and nuts (5). Tighten nuts (5) to a torque of 360 50 N m (265 35 lb ft). Turn bracket assemblies (3) so that the vertical flat surface is toward the front of the radiator.
Location of components for improved radiator mounts on D9L Tractors.3. The upper hydraulic lines clip, that supports the lift cylinder lines on the upper right side of the radiator guard must be lowered. Move the clip down until the top hole in the clip is in alignment with the lower clip mounting hole in the guard. Drill and tap another hole in the guard for 1/2"-13 THD in alignment with the lower mounting hole in the clip. Use the original bolts to install the clip on the guard.4. Install bracket assemblies (8) on the inside edge of the radiator guard with the original bolts. Do not tighten the bolts at this time. The two bolt flange on bracket assemblies (8) must be toward the front of
