C     179-4348     Wheel Assembly Press Tool     1    Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble.

Illustration 1 shows the location of the components that are in the axle assembly.

Use Tooling (A) and a press to install bearing cup (9) into the housing. Pack the bearing cup with 1P-0808 Multipurpose Grease .Note: Ensure that the bearing cup is seated.
Repeat Step 2 for bearing cup (8) on the opposite side.
Refill the cavity of the housing to one-third capacity with 1P-0808 Multipurpose Grease .

Use Tooling (B) and a press to install roller bearing (7) and seal (6) into the housing. Pack roller bearing (7) with 1P-0808 Multipurpose Grease .

Place shaft (1) into the housing and use Tooling (C) and a press to install the shaft in place.

Pack the roller bearing with 1P-0808 Multipurpose Grease. Install roller bearing (5) into the housing.

Apply clean hydraulic oil on the sealing lip of a new lip type seal.
Use Tooling (B) and a press to install a new lip type seal (4) into the housing.

Place spacer (3) over the shaft (1) .

Use Tooling (A) and a press to install spacer (3) in housing (2) .End By: Install the axle. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Axle - Install".
