Remove the exhaust manifold shields.
Remove the air shutoff.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, Cooling System Coolant - Change.

Remove bolts (2), (4), (5), (6), and (7).
Remove tube assemblies (1) and (3).

Attach Tooling (A) with a suitable lifting device to air inlet cover (17). The weight of the air inlet cover (17) is approximately 28 kg (62 lb).
Remove bolts (18) and air inlet cover (17).

Remove gasket (19).

Attach Tooling (A) with a suitable lifting device to air inlet cover (20). The weight of the air inlet cover (20) is approximately 28 kg (62 lb).
Remove bolts (21) and air inlet cover (20).
