Remove And Install Connecting Rod Bearings
preparatory steps: a) remove oil filter baseb) remove oil cooler1. Remove oil level gauge assembly and tube assembly.2. Remove the exhaust manifold water supply line. Remove oil cooler water outlet elbow from engine block.3. Remove the engine inspection plate. 4. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise (as viewed from the front of the engine) until rod caps (1) are in position shown. 5. Remove the connecting rod cap and retaining bolts, and remove the lower half of bearings from cap.6. Push the connecting rod away from the crankshaft and remove upper half of bearing.7. Install upper half of new connecting rod bearings in connecting rod. Lubricate the bearing and crankshaft journal with clean SAE 30 engine oil. Pull the connecting rod into position on crankshaft.8. Install lower half of new bearing in cap. Lubricate bearing with clean SAE 30 engine oil.9. Lubricate the threads of retaining bolts with clean SAE 30 engine oil.10. Position the connecting rod caps, and install retaining bolts. Tighten each bolt initially 50 5 lb. ft. (6,9 0,69 mkg), plus 180° 10° additional turn. When installing rod caps the numbered surfaces must mate.11. Repeat steps 4 through 10 for remaining bearings.12. Install engine inspection plate, tube assembly and oil level gauge assembly.concluding steps: a) install oil filter baseb) install oil cooler
