Information:
Location of the Components for the Propel System
Charge Filter
Illustration 1 g00938452
The charge filter for the propel system is located on the left side of the machine inside the steps for the operator. Hydraulic oil filter (1) will filter all charge oil before the oil is routed to the propel system.Axle Propel Pump
Illustration 2 g00938459
Axle propel pump (2) is located underneath the operator platform. The axle propel pump sends oil to the axle motor. The axle propel pump also sends oil to the optional brake valve.Reference: See Systems Operation, "Piston Pump (Axle Propel)" for more information on the axle propel pump.Drum Propel Pump
Illustration 3 g00938460
Drum propel pump (3) is located underneath the operator platform. The drum propel pump sends oil to the drum motor.Reference: See Systems Operation, "Piston Pump (Drum Propel)" for more information on the drum propel pump.Shift Valve
Illustration 4 g00938530
Shift valve (4) is located next to the axle propel pump on the left side of the machine underneath the operator platform. The shift valve controls the operation of the speed shift mechanism in the drum propel motor and the axle propel motor.Reference: See Systems Operation, "Control Valve (Shift)" for more information on the shift valve.Brake Valve
Illustration 5 g00938601
Brake valve (5) is an option for compactors that are equipped with axle brakes. The brake valve is located next to shift valve (4). The brake valve engages the axle brakes and the drum brake when the parking brake is applied.Axle Propel Motor
Illustration 6 g00938598
Axle propel motor (6) is bolted to the final drive planetary. The final drive planetary is bolted to the rear axle. The axle propel motor receives oil from the axle propel pump. Power is transmitted from the motor to the rear axle.Drum Propel Motor
Illustration 7 g00938456
Drum propel motor (7) is bolted to the final drive planetary. The final drive planetary is bolted to the drum. The drum propel motor receives oil from the drum propel pump. Power is transmitted from the motor to the drum.Thermal Bypass and Return Manifold Valve
Illustration 8 g00938449
Thermal bypass and return manifold valve (8) is located on the left side of the compactor under the operator platform. The return manifold contains the thermal bypass valve, which sends oil that needs to be cooled to the hydraulic oil cooler. Oil that does not need to be cooled returns to the hydraulic tank.Reference: See Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting, "Bypass Valve (Return Manifold)" for more information.Hydraulic Oil Cooler
Illustration 9 g00938451
Hydraulic oil cooler (9) is mounted between the radiator and the fuel cooler at the rear of the machine. The hydraulic oil cooler lowers the hydraulic oil temperature before the oil is returned to the hydraulic tank.
