Note: Before performing this procedure, test the accumulator charging valve. The accumulator precharge pressure will be checked in this procedure. For the proper procedure, refer to Service Manual Module, SENR1223, "Accumulator Charging Valve (Brake) - Test and Adjust". Testing and Charging the Brake Accumulators
Stop the engine. Depress the brake pedal repeatedly until there is no brake pressure.To ensure that the nitrogen charge is correct, each brake accumulator piston must be at the bottom of the accumulator cylinder. Nitrogen gas pressure varies with the temperature. To obtain the most accurate nitrogen charge, the temperature of each accumulator must be identical to the air temperature around the accumulators.Note: The following table is for machines with the following serial numbers: (6XR1-18257SR1-11998CR1-20469AR1-599)

Then charge the accumulator again after you apply the service brakes repeatedly in order to prevent trapping oil in the accumulator. Oil in the accumulator will give an inaccurate precharge reading.
