EXCAVATOR,
Information:
2. Measure oil level. Oil level should be between FULL and LOW marks on dipstick. Add oil if necessary.3. Stop engine. 4. Replace filter element if the amber indicator comes ON during operation. Refer to TRANSMISSION FILTER in the 500 SERVICE HOURS or 3 MONTHS section.(44) FRONT AND REAR DIFFERENTIALS AND FINAL DRIVESObserve lubricant level frequently if any signs of leakage develop or are suspected.1. Operate machine on level ground for a few minutes. Position machine so that each front final drive fill plug is horizontal to axle. Stop engine. 2. Remove front differential fill plug. Oil level should be visible. 3. Remove front final drive fill plugs (2). Oil level should be visible.4. Add oil as necessary. Install fill plugs.5. Reposition machine so that each rear final drive fill plug is horizontal to axle. Fill rear differential through either final drive fill plug opening. Fill slowly until oil appears at differential level plug. See REFILL CAPACITIES. 6. Remove rear differential oil level plug. 7. Remove rear final drive fill plugs (2).8. Maintain lubricant level to bottom of plug openings. Add oil if necessary.9. Install oil level and final drive fill plugs.(45) COOLING SYSTEM - Cleaning
Always inspect cooling system with engine not running. To prevent possible personal injury, caused by steam, use caution when removing radiator filler cap. Remove filler cap slowly to relieve pressure.Inhibitor contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes to prevent possible personal injury.
Never add coolant to an overheated engine, allow engine to cool first.
If a machine is to be stored in or shipped to an area with below freezing temperatures, refer to COOLING SYSTEM in the 2000 SERVICE HOURS or 1 YEAR section.Whenever draining and refilling the cooling system, always observe the coolant level when the engine reaches normal operating temperature.Machine must be level, engine stopped and cool. 1. Turn radiator filler cap slowly to relieve pressure and remove cap. 2. Be sure drain hose is through hole in guard.3. Open cooling system drain valve and allow coolant to drain.
Use all cleaning solutions with care.
Most commercial cooling system cleaners may be used.4. Close drain valve. Fill cooling system with cleaning solution.(1)5. Start and run engine for 1/2 hour. Stop engine and drain cleaning solution.6. Flush system with clean water, until draining water is clean. Do not run engine while flushing.7. Close drain valve. Fill cooling system with neutralizing solution.(2)8. Start and run engine for 10 minutes. Stop engine and drain neutralizing solution.9. Flush system with clean water, until draining water is clean. Do not run engine while flushing.10. Close drain valve. Add coolant slowly, 5 U.S. gallons (19 litres) per minute or less, to proper level.11. Start and run engine with filler cap removed, until coolant level stabilizes. Install filler cap and stop engine.(1)2 lb. Sodium Bisulfate (NaHSO4) per 10 U.S. gallons (1 kilogram per 40 litres) water.(2)1/2 lb. Sodium Carbonate Crystals (Na2CO3 10 H2O) per 10 U.S. gallons (250 grams per 40 litres) water.(46) ALTERNATOR If the ALTERNATOR indicator comes ON, while
