Remove the drum. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, Drum - Remove and Install.
Remove the piston motor (drum propel). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, Piston Motor (Drum Propel) - Remove and Install.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to lift drum (1). The weight of a padded drum is approximately 2500 kg (5511 lb). The weight of a smooth drum is approximately 2100 kg (4630 lb). Set drum (1) vertically on the ground.

Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to remove mounting plate (2). The weight of mounting plate (2) is approximately 26 kg (57 lb). Remove bolts (3) and mounting plate (2).

Attach a suitable lifting device to plate (5) and the final drive planetary. The combine weight of plate (5) and the final drive planetary is approximately 180 kg (397 lb). Remove bolts (4), plate (5), and the final drive planetary.

Tighten bolts (6) to a torque of 270 40 N m (199 30 lb ft).
Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 270 40 N m (199 30 lb ft).End By:

Install the drum. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, Drum - Remove and Install.
