Caterpillar has received multiple reports of water entry into AS200 Slope Sensors ( 315-6697 Position Sensor As ). There is some amount of protection against water inside the housing of the sensor but the housing is intended to seal against water entry. Although the AS200 Slope Sensor ( 315-6697 Position Sensor As ) may continue to operate with water inside the housing, Caterpillar considers any AS200 Slope Sensors ( 315-6697 Position Sensor As ) with water inside as failed sensors.Solution
Caterpillar would like to analyze the root cause of the water intrusion and any output failures on AS200 Slope Sensor ( 315-6697 Position Sensor As ). Submit a warranty claim on AS200 Slope Sensor ( 315-6697 Position Sensor As ) units that cease to output slope data and any units that have audible sounds of liquid in the sensor housing. With an AS200 Slope Sensor ( 315-6697 Position Sensor As ) removed from the transverse beam and the connector cap chains held, the sensor can be shaken for audible sounds of liquid inside the sensor. Note: To insure the integrity of Caterpillar's failure analysis, do not open the units. Replace AS200 Slope Sensor with a new sensor until Caterpillar communicates a permanent resolution based on analysis of the failed units.
