Identification #(s)Attached to April 11, 2006 Service LetterRework ProcedurePerform the machine test prior to removingthe pump from the machine in order to determine that the seals in the glandare in good condition. If the seals in the gland are damaged, the sealsneed to be replaced. Refer to Service Letter, PS42040 in order to determinethe correct seal part numbers. After the machine testing is completed,the pump must be removed and the Retaining Ring Inspection needs to becompleted.
Machine Testing
Locate the weep hole on the piston pump. The weephole can be accessed from below the machine. If a plastic plug is installedin the weep hole, or if the weep hole is covered with tape, remove anddiscard the plug or tape.
If there is oil at the weep hole already, machinetesting is not necessary. Proceed to the rework instruction.
Inspect or photograph the area below the weephole in order to document the before test condition.
Start the engine and run the engine at 2200 rpm.
Operate the implements for approximately 10 minutesin the following manner.
Perform quick operation and release ofimplement functions to cause the pump to upstroke and destroke quickly.
Perform multifunction operation with tiltcircuit stalled and full speed raise. This will cause the pump to operateat high flow and high pressure.
Continue operations until the hydraulicoil temperature has reached 60°C.
Stop the engine and inspect the area below orin line with the weep hole to determine whether or not any oil has comeout of the weep hole.
If oil leaking from the weep hole was found duringmachine testing, then make a note and indicate in the warranty claim storythat oil leaking was present after machine testing. If oil leaking fromthe weep hole was not found during machine testing, then make a note andindicate in the warranty claim story that oil leaking was not present aftermachine testing.
Retaining Ring Inspection
Refer to the Disassembly & Assembly procedurefor the machine and remove the pump from the machine.
