Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact skin.
After a failure in the brake circuit, clean the screen for the brake oil coolers. The oil cooler screen is located above the torque converter on the frame.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the oil from the rear brake oil cooler into a suitable container.
Clean the drain plug and install the drain plug.

Remove screen plug (1).
Remove the oil cooler screen. Note: The oil cooler screen is fragile.
Wash the oil cooler screen in a clean, nonflammable solvent.
Install the oil cooler screen. Orient the oil cooler screen so that the end with the holes is closer to the plug.
Inspect the seal. Replace the seal, if necessary. Install the screen plug.
Start the engine and run the engine at low idle. Check for leaks and make any necessary repairs.
Check the oil level of the hoist, torque converter, and brake tank. If necessary, add oil. Maintain the oil level to the "FULL WARM" mark in the sight gauge.
