The main hydraulicpump coupling was not installed correctly. This could lead to failure ofthe pump drive shaft. The main pump will have to be replaced along withthe coupling as previous use with the incorrectly installed coupling couldhave deteriorated the pump shaft. A new pump with improved gears will beused for the replacement. A different pump coupling will also be installedthat will reduce the vibrational amplitudes transmitted from the engineto the pump. A new hydraulic pump and pump coupling need to be installedon the products listed below. You will not be charged for the service performed.Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediatelyto schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time requiredto complete this service. Refer to the 345B Series II Service Manual Disassemblyand Assembly SENR1934, section "Hydraulic System Pressure ? Release" toplace the machine in the service position and release the hydraulic oilpressure in the system.
Refer to the 345B Series II Service Manual Disassemblyand Assembly SENR1934, section "Main Hydraulic Pump and Pump Drive Coupling- Remove" to remove the old pump and coupling.
Refer to the 3176C and 3196 Engines For CaterpillarBuilt Machines Service Manual Disassembly and Assembly RENR1223, section"Flywheel ? Remove" to remove to old flywheel from the engine.
Refer to the 3176C and 3196 Engines For CaterpillarBuilt Machines Service Manual Disassembly and Assembly RENR1223, section"Flywheel ? Install" to install the new 163-0043 Flywheel onto the engine.
Refer to the 345B Series II Service Manual Disassemblyand Assembly SENR1934, section "Pump Control - Remove" to remove the 1772520Head Gp from the old pump.
Refer to the 345B Series II Service Manual Disassemblyand Assembly SENR1934, section "Pump Control - Install" to install the1772520 Head Gp onto the new 10R1552 Pump with a new 1772524 Gasket.
If needed, install the new 2160041 Accessory DriveGp in the 10R1552 Pump.
Follow these steps to install the new 1786504Coupling onto the pump and flywheel.
