Schematic of the Implement Shutoff SwitchThis diagnostic code is recorded when the implement ECM reads the signal (wire E918-GN) for the implement shutoff switch as being above normal. The circuit is shorted to the ground circuit. The signal is a PWM signal. The possible causes of the diagnostic code are listed:
Short in the harness.
The implement shutoff switch has failed.
The ECM has failed. ECM failure is unlikely.System Response:The implement shutoff switch does not respond to changes in position. When a diagnostic code is present for the implement shutoff switch, the auto carry will function at the default load factor of 100%.Test Step 1. CHECK THE IMPLEMENT SHUTOFF SWITCH.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the implement shutoff switch from the machine harness.
At the harness connector for the implement shutoff switch, measure the resistance between signal contact 1 (wire E918-GN) and ground contact 5 (wire 202-BK).Expected Result:The resistance that is measured is greater than 5000 ohms. Results:
YES - The resistance that is measured is greater than 5000 ohms. The resistance is correct. Proceed to test step 2.
NO - The resistance that is measured is less than 5000 ohms. The sensor has failed.Repair: Repair the implement shutoff switch or replace the implement shutoff switch.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK THE SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND.
The key start switch and the disconnect switch remain in the OFF position.
Disconnect the J1 and J2 machine harness connectors from the ECM.
The implement shutoff switch remains disconnected.
At the machine harness connector J1, measure the resistance from contact J1-24 to all possible sources of ground.Expected Result:Each resistance measurement should be greater than 5000 ohms. Results:
YES - Each resistance measurement is greater than 5000 ohms. The machine harness is correct. Proceed to test step 3.
NO - The resistance is less than 5000 ohms for one or more resistance measurements.Repair: There is a short in the machine harness. The short is between the signal (wire E918-GN) and the circuit with the low resistance measurement. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK THE GROUND CIRCUIT.
The key start switch and the disconnect switch remain in the OFF position.
The implement shutoff switch remains disconnected.
The J1 and J2 machine harness connectors remain disconnected from the ECM.
At the machine harness connector for the implement shutoff switch, measure the resistance between the ground contact 5 (wire 202-BK) and frame ground. Expected Result:The resistance is less than 5.0 ohms. Results:
YES - The resistance is less than 5.0 ohms. The resistance of the harness is correct. Proceed to test step 4.
NO - The resistance is greater than 5.0 ohms. The ground circuit in the harness has failed.Repair: There is an open in the harness. The open is between the ground contact 5 (wire 202-BK) and frame ground. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.STOPTest Step 4. CHECK IF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE REMAINS.
Inspect the contacts and clean the contacts of the harness connectors.
Reconnect all harness connectors.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
