Right view of the torque converter updrive housing below hoist, brake, and pilot pump (10) Torque converter outlet relief valveThe transmission hydraulic control controls the oil pressure to the torque converter, to the transmission clutches, and to the lubrication circuits. The transmission hydraulic control also controls the flow of oil to the clutches. The transmission hydraulic control is installed on the top of the transmission planetary group. The transmission hydraulic control consists of the following components: transmission hydraulic control relief valve (8), torque converter inlet relief valve (9) and seven transmission hydraulic control modulating valves (1) through (7). Torque converter outlet relief valve (10) is installed on the side of the torque converter updrive housing.Pressurized oil for the operation of the transmission hydraulic control flows from the transmission gear pump. The flow of oil is split after flowing through the transmission oil filter. Some of the oil is sent to the torque converter lockup clutch modulating valve. This oil also flows to the updrive gears for lubrication. The remaining oil flows to the transmission hydraulic control. This oil supplies transmission hydraulic control modulating valves. Transmission hydraulic control relief valve (8) controls the maximum oil pressure to the transmission hydraulic control modulating valves and torque converter modulating valve. The torque converter inlet relief valve will control the inlet pressure to the torque converter. The torque converter outlet relief valve will control the pressure of the oil inside the torque converter in order to keep the torque converter full of oil at all times. The seven transmission hydraulic control modulating valves are mounted on the top of the transmission. The seven transmission clutches have an individual modulating valve. In order to move the machine, two modulating valves must be energized. The valves are used to directly modulate the oil pressure that is sent to each individual clutch. The following table provides the combination of the energized transmission hydraulic control modulating valves and engaged clutches for each forward speed and for reverse.
