Removal Procedure
Start By:
Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect" for the machine that is being serviced.

Accidental machine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the machine.To avoid accidental machine starting, turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position and remove the key.Place a do not operate tag at the battery disconnect switch location to inform personnel that the machine is being worked on.
Note: Put identification marks on all wires for installation purposes.
Open the engine hood.

Disconnect ground wire (1) and positive wire (2) .

Disconnect wiring harness (3) .

Loosen bolt (5). Loosen the two adjusting nuts (4) in order to release the tension on the alternator V-belt.
Remove the V-belt from the alternator pulley.
Remove bolt (5) .

Remove the two pivot bolts (6) from the alternator and remove the alternator. Weight of the alternator is 14 kg (31 lb).Installation Procedure

Install the alternator on the alternator mounting bracket. Install two pivot bolts (6). Do not tighten two pivot bolts (6) at this time.

Install bolt (5). Do not tighten bolt (5) at this time.
Install the V-belt on the alternator pulley.
Turn nuts (4) in order to adjust the V-belt tension.Note: Check the fan belt tension. Use a Kent Moore Company BT-33-97 gauge, or an equivalent. The correct tension for a new V-belt is 534 22 N (120 5 lb). The correct tension for a used V-belt is 400 44 N (90 10 lb).
Tighten bolt (5) .
Tighten two pivot bolts (6) .
Tighten adjusting locknut (4). Torque for adjusting locknut (4) is 150 20 N m (110 15 lb ft).

Connect wires (1) and (2) to the alternator.

Connect wiring harness (3) to the alternator.
