FRONT VIEWRemove Governor (UG-8 Woodward Or Standard-Earlier)
1. Remove cover (2) from accessory drive housing. 2. Disconnect linkage (3) from governor control lever.3. Remove bolts (1) from governor.4. Fasten a hoist to governor and remove it from accessory drive housing. Weight of Woodward governor is 60 lb. (27 kg). Weight of Standard governor is 40 lb. (18 kg).Install Governor (Ug-8 Woodward Or Standard-Earlier)
1. Put governor in place on accessory drive housing and install the bolts.2. Connect rack linkage to governor control lever. 3. Install cover on accessory drive housing.Disassemble Governor (Standard)
start by: a) remove governor 1. Remove cover and bolts (1) from housing. 2. Remove housing (2), retainer (3) and spring (4). 3. Remove covers (5) and (7) from housing (2). Remove seal from cover (5) and pin (6) from housing. 4. Remove bolt (10), lever (9) and shaft (8). 5. Remove spring (13), plunger (12), roller (14) and pin (11) from lever (9). 6. Remove shaft from housing with a press. 7. Remove bearing cage (15), levers (16) and (17) from housing (18). Remove bearings from levers (16) and (17) with tooling (A). 8. Remove sleeve (20) and bearing (19) from bearing cage. 9. Remove flyweight (21) from housing. 10. Remove bearing from housing with tooling (B) and a press. 11. Remove pins (22) from weight assembly with a press. 12. Remove bearings, pins and roller (24) from flyweight (23).Assemble Governor (Standard)
1. Install bearings in rollers (3) and flyweights (2). Install rollers and pins (1) in flyweights. 2. Install flyweights and pins (4) in spindle assembly (5).
Flyweights and rollers must move freely on the pins after assembly.
3. Install bearing in housing (6) with tooling (A) and a press. 4. Install weight assembly (7) in housing. 5. Install bearings in levers (8) and (10) with tooling (B). 6. Install bearing and sleeve in bearing cage (9).7. Put bearing cage (9), levers (8) and (10) in place in housing (6) and install shaft. 8. Install shaft in housing with a press. Install plugs in housing at each end of shaft. 9. Install seal in cover (11) with tooling (C). Install seal with spring side of lip toward inside of governor. 10. Install pins and rollers (17) on lever (14). Put levers (13) and (14) in housing (18) as shown. Install shaft (12), plunger (15) and spring (16). 11. Install covers (19) that hold shaft (12) in place. Be sure lever (13) engages with block (21) for idle screw adjustment. Install pin (20) and spring. 12. Install spring (23) and retainer (22) on bearing cage. 13. Install top part of governor housing (24) on bottom part of governor housing (25). Install bolts and cover.end by: a) install governor
