SAFETY - PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR REWORKING THE FLOORPLATE ON CERTAIN TRACK-TYPE TRACTORS
MODELS INVOLVED - D4K and D5K Track-type Tractors
Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
The floorplate needs to be reworked on the products listed below. The existing floorplate may come loose during a machine rollover which may, in conjunction with other factors or circumstances, result in a risk of personal injury or death. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 29Aug2012 when scheduling this service.

Rework Procedure
1. Remove footrests (3), center floormat (4), and floorplate (5).

2. Remove pin (6) in location shown in Image1.2.1. The hole where the pin was removed will be the location for the new 343-3694 Knob. Increase the hole size to 11mm in diameter.

3. Cut a hole 80mm in diameter in floormat (4) in order to provide clearance for the the new 343-3694 Knob. Use the floorplate as template in order to locate the hole.
4. Install the new 343-3694 Knob (1) and 100-7740 Retaining Ring (2). Refer to Image1.3.1.

5. Install floorplate (5), floormat (4), and footrests (3). Refer to Image1.4.1.
