Emergency Brakes
Knob (1) on the right hand instrument panel activates the emergency brakes when it is pulled out. The emergency brake knob activates both the tractor and scraper service brakes by a different method than the service brake pedal. When the knob is pushed in, the brakes are released.If air system pressure goes below 280 35 kPa (40 5 psi), the emergency brakes will be activated automatically. The emergency brake control knob (1) will not stay in to release the brakes, if the air system pressure is below 280 35 kPa (40 5 psi). When the emergency brakes are applied, the brake air pressure and brake ON light on the EMS (Electronic Monitoring System) panel flashes.
EMERGENCY BRAKE KNOBTransmission In Neutral (Starting)
The tractor can be started in any lever position. However, the vehicle will not move until the transmission select lever is placed in the NEUTRAL position. If the vehicle is started in NEUTRAL, the vehicle will move when the transmission select lever is placed in one of the eight FORWARD speeds or REVERSE.Backup Alarm
The backup alarm is fastened to the rear of the scraper. When the transmission select lever is put in the reverse position, a switch activates the backup alarm.
BACKUP ALARMNeutral/Run Switch
The neutral/run switch (1), when put in the neutral position, tells the scraper transmission control to put the scraper transmission in NEUTRAL. When the switch is put in the run position, the scraper transmission control will shift to whatever speed (or gear) the tractor transmission is in. Because the scraper engine must be running whenever the vehicle must be moved, the scraper transmission can be put in neutral until needed.
1. Neutral/run switch. 2. No-sync light.No-Sync Light
The no-sync (syncronization) light (2) will tell the operator when the scraper transmission is not in the same speed (gear) as the tractor transmission. This condition would cause damage to the vehicle if operated. If the neutral/run switch is in the NEUTRAL position, the no-sync light must be OFF.
