Some 297-3168 Auxiliary Sea Water Pump Gp have reports of the 100-3071 Shaft bending or breaking on C32 marine enginesSolution
Do not disassemble the pump either for inspection, or to remove the pump gear from the pump shaft. Replace the complete failed pump and gear with a new 297-3168 Auxiliary Sea Water Pump Gp and 3N-5500 Water Pump Drive Gear .Have the Technical Communicator contact the Dealer Solution Network (DSN) to supply the following items. The supplied items will be passed on to Product Support for processing.
Engine serial number
Engine hours
Confirmation if the pump gear can be turned by hand
Pictures of the gear teeth showing wear
Pictures of vessel piping systems including strainers
Cooling system coolant type
External resistance measurements
