630-2
Programmed Parameter Fault : Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects that the "Barometric Pressure Sensor Calibration Value" is not configured in Cat® Electronic Technician ( Cat ET). The ECM will default the atmospheric pressure value to 100 kpa to calculate the gauge pressure.
The code remains active while the parameter is unprogrammed. The code will never be logged. If the "Barometric Pressure Sensor Calibration Value" is not configured in Cat® Electronic Technician (ET), the 630-2 code will become active. The value must be entered in Cat ET to the specific site value.System configuration parameters are configured to specify the emissions levels, the power rating, and the specific application. Default values for the parameters are programmed at the factory. Some parameters may be changed to equip the engine for a specific application. The system configuration parameters must be reprogrammed if the ECM is replaced without using the "Copy Configuration" tool that is in Cat ET. If you update the flash file for the ECM, the configuration parameters are retained in the resident memory of the ECM. Certain configuration parameters are stamped into the engine information plate. These parameters may also be changed by using the Messenger panel or by using an aftermarket device (electronic service tool).Some parameters are protected by security passwords. Customer passwords or factory passwords will require Cat ET to change these parameters. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Customer Passwords" and Testing and Adjusting, "Factory Passwords" for details.Note: Factory passwords are only available to service technicians from an authorized Caterpillar Dealership. Customers of Caterpillar do not have access to the Caterpillar Feature Protection System (FPS). If the parameters that are protected with factory passwords are changed without authorization from Caterpillar, the repair may not be covered under the Caterpillar warranty.ECM Identification Parameters
Equipment ID
The customer can assign an Equipment ID to identify the engine application.Engine Serial Number
The engine serial number is programmed into the ECM at the factory. The number is stamped on the engine information plate. If the ECM is replaced, the engine serial number must be programmed into the new ECM.ECM Serial Number
