1. Remove five bolts and washers (2) and plate (1). 2. Disconnect tube assembly (3) and remove three plugs (4). 3. Disconnect electrical connector (5). 4. Remove nut (7) from connector (6) and pull the connector out of the case. 5. Disconnect electrical connector (8). 6. Remove two bolts and tabs (10) and remove two tubes (9). 7. Remove three bolts and washers (12) and relief valve group (11) from the transmission hydraulic control valves. 8. Remove four 9/16 in headed bolts (13) and remove transmission hydraulic control valves from the transmission. Install the transmission hydraulic control valves in the reverse order.Disassemble & Assemble Transmission Hydraulic Control Valves
Start By:a. remove transmission hydraulic control valves 1. Remove bolts (1) and remove modulating valves (2) from the manifold. 2. Remove locknut (3) spacer (4) and coil assembly (5) from modulating valve (2). 3. Remove cartridge (9), ball (10), seat (8), spool (11) and spring (7) from modulating valve (2).4. If necessary, remove nipple assembly (6). Seat (8) and cartridge (9) are not serviced separately. 5. Remove bolts (12) and remove plate (13) from the manifold.6. Remove adjustment screw (14) from the manifold. 7. Remove plug and seal (17), slug (18), spool assembly (16), spring (19) and stop (15) from the manifold. 8. Remove snap ring (21), retainer (22), spring (20) and ball (23) from spool assembly (16). The following steps are for the assembly of the transmission hydraulic control valve.9. Make sure all of the parts of the transmission hydraulic control valves are clean. Put clean oil on all of the parts of the valves. Inspect all O-ring seals for damage, and make replacements if needed.10. Install ball (23), spring (20), retainer (22) and snap ring (21) in spool assembly (16).11. Install stop (15), spring (19), spool assembly (16), slug (18) and plug and seal (17) in manifold.12. Install adjustment screw (14). Refer to Testing And Adjusting module for the D5M for adjusting screw (14).13. Install plate (13) and bolts (12). Tighten bolts (12) to a torque of 30 4 N m (22 3 lb ft).14. Install spring (7) spool (11), seat (8), ball (10) and cartridge (9) in modulating valve (2). Tighten the cartridge (9) to a torque of 50 5 N m (37 4 lb ft).15. Install nipple assembly (6). Tighten to a torque of 14 4 N m (10 3 lb ft).16. Install coil assembly (5), spacer (4), and locknut (3). Tighten locknut (3) to a torque of 9.5 1.5 N m (84 13 lb in).17. Install modulating valves (2) and bolts (1). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 30 4 N m (22 3 lb ft).End By:a. install transmission hydraulic control valves
