Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

The hydraulic filter is located on the right side of the machine.
Use a strap type wrench to remove the filter element. Dispose of the used filter element properly.
Clean the filter mounting base. Make sure that all of the used gasket is completely removed.

Lubricate the gasket of the new filter element with clean hydraulic oil.
Install the new filter element by hand. After the gasket contacts the filter mounting base, tighten the filter element by an additional 3/4 turn.
Start the engine and run the engine at low idle. Inspect the hydraulic system for leaks.

Maintain the oil level above the "ADD COLD" mark on the sight gauge. Add hydraulic oil, if necessary.
