The pressure relief valve can discharge hot pressurized fluid. If the pressure relief valve should open, personal injury may occur.To prevent injury if the pressure relief valve should open, ensure that the piping from the pressure relief valve is directed away from traffic areas.

(1) Supply line (2) Return line (3) Ball valve (4) Ball valveFollow these guidelines for installation of the lube oil heater's plumbing:
Use supply line (1) with a minimum inner diameter of 38 mm (1 1/2 inch) in order to ensure an adequate supply of lube oil to the pump. Do not reduce the size of this line.
Use return line (2) with a minimum inner diameter of 25.4 mm (1 inch). Do not reduce the size of this line.
Install ball valve (3) with an inner diameter of 38 mm (1 1/2 inch) in the supply line just before the pump. Install ball valve (4) with an inner diameter of 25.4 mm (1 inch) just after the outlet from the heating tank's check valve. The ball valves enable the heating system to be isolated from the engine. This allows the heating system to be serviced without draining the engine oil.
Route the supply line from at least two inches above the lowest point of the engine oil sump to the inlet of the pump. Debris and contaminants can settle in the bottom of the engine oil sump. The height of the outlet from the sump minimizes the introduction of contaminants into the heating system. The inlet to the pump has an NPT of 38 mm (1 1/2 inch).
Route the return line from the heating tank's check valve to the engine oil sump. The outlet from the heating tank's check valve has an NPT of 25.4 mm (1 inch).
Use proper support and alignment in order to avoid strain on the oil lines. Ensure that all connections are tight. Use thread sealant on the connections.
If hose is installed, use high quality hose that is resistant to heat. Avoid contact of the hose with engine components that are hot during engine operation. Make sure that the hose is not pinched or kinked.Start-Up Procedure
Before the heating system is started, verify the main power supply's polarity and check the heating element. Refer to "Verify the Main Power Supply's Polarity". For instruction on checking the heating element, refer to System Operation Section, "Maintenance".Perform the following steps for the initial start-up of the heating system.
Open the ball valves in the supply line and in the return line.
High voltage may be present. The power source must be disconnected before working on equipment. Failure to disconnect the power source could result in injury or death.
