--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------Proper tensioning of V-belts improves belt and component service life. The 144-0235 Belt Tension Gauge should be used to measure the tension on the V-belt. New V-belts should initially be tightened to a tension of 534 22 N (120.0 5.0 lbs). The new belt should again be adjusted and tightened to the above tension after 30 minutes of operation. Incorrect tensioning leads to V-belt slippage causing premature V-belt failure and possibly component failure.
