Test the air assist valve for a leak
Disconnect from the dosing cabinet the air line to the injector for the CEM . Disconnect at location (1). Reference: Refer to Illustration 1.If no air is flowing from location 1 on the cabinet, then go to step 2.If air is flowing from location 1 on the cabinet, then replace the air assist valve.
Test the air assist valve for actuation.
Use the "Aftertreatment #1 SCR Dosing Air Assist Valve Command Override" on Cat ET to turn on the air assist valve. If air is flowing at a high rate from location 1 on the cabinet, then go to step 3.If air is not flowing at a high rate from location 1 on the cabinet, then proceed with this step.
Turn the valve on and off with the override and listen for valve actuation. If, you cannot hear the valve actuate, replace the valve. If, you can here the valve actuate, then remove the valve and inspect for failure. Ensure that the manifold passages for the valve are not blocked.
Test the airline for a blockage.
Disconnect from the injector for the CEM the air line from the dosing cabinet. Disconnect at location (2)
Override the air assist valve in order to open the valve. If air is flowing at a high rate from the line, then go to step 4.If air is not flowing at a high rate from the line, then clear the line of the blockage. Replace the line if necessary.
Test the injector for a blockage. Note: This step will be utilizing the air pressure applied to the injector nozzle by the air assist valve. The pressure should create air flow back into the DEF line but the flow rate will be lower than the air side of the injector.
Disconnect from the injector for the CEM the DEF line from the dosing cabinet. Disconnect at location (3)
Override the air assist valve in order to open the valve. If air is flowing at a medium rate from the DEF side of the injector, then go to step 5.If air is not flowing at a medium rate from the DEF side of the injector, then remove the injector and clean the assembly.
Test the DEF line for a blockage.
Disconnect from the dosing cabinet the DEF line to the injector for the CEM . Disconnect at location (4).
Override the air assist valve in order to open the valve. If air is flowing at a medium rate from the line, then the system has checked out to this point. If air is not flowing at a medium rate from the line, then clear the line of the blockage. replace the line if necessary.
