LOCK 1749803 - Caterpillar

1. Drain the coolant from the radiator until the level is below the regulator housing.2. Remove bracket (2) from the top of housing (3) and set it aside.3. Remove elbows (1) and (5) from housing (3).4. Disconnect two tubes (4) from the rear of the housing.5. Remove ten bolts (6) that fasten housing (3) to the regulator housing and remove housing (3). 6. Remove seals (7) from housing (3).7. Remove the cover from the top of housing (3) and remove vent valve (8) from the housing. 8. Remove water temperature regulators (9) from the regulator housing. The following steps are for installation of the temperature regulators.9. Be sure all parts are clean and all gasket surfaces are smooth before assembly. Use all new gaskets and seals.10. Install all seals (7) with the lip of the seal toward the inside of housing (3) as shown.11. Be sure vent valve (8) is not plugged, and install the gasket with the indexing tab over the vent valve.12. Lubricate all lip seals (7) and the O-ring seal in elbow (1) with glycerine.13. Install the water temperature regulators in the reverse order of removal.14. Fill the radiator with coolant. See the Maintenance Guide.
