Remove & Install Turbocharger
FLUID SPILLAGE CONTAINMENTCare must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "TOOLS AND SHOP PRODUCT GUIDE, NENG2500", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates. 1. Remove bolt (1).2. Remove two bolts (2). Remove oil drain line (4), the gasket, and the O-ring seal.3. Loosen connector (6) to oil supply line (5).4. Remove bolts (3) and bolts (7) to shield (8). 5. Remove two bolts (11), oil supply line (5), and the gasket.6. Loosen clamps (9) and remove tube assembly (10).7. Remove bolts (12), the spacers, and shield (8). 8. Loosen clamp (15) and remove air filter (13).9. Loosen clamp (16). Remove four bolts (17), remove turbocharger (14), and the gasket from the exhaust manifold and exhaust elbow (18). The following steps are for the installation of the turbocharger.10. Put the gasket and turbocharger (14) in position on the exhaust manifold. Put 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of bolts (17). Install bolts (17) and the nuts. Tighten the nuts to a torque of 54 5 N m (40 4 lb ft). Tighten clamp (16).11. Put oil supply tube (5) and the gasket in position. Install bolts (11) and tighten connector (6).12. Put shield (8) in position. Install bolts (12), the spacers, and the nuts. Install bolts (3) and bolts (7).13. Put oil drain tube (4), the gasket, and the O-ring seal in position. Install two bolts (2).14. Put tube assembly (10) in position. Tighten clamps (9). Install bolt (1).15. Put air filter (13) in position and tighten clamp (15).
