Never bend the eyebolts and the brackets. Only load the eyebolts and the brackets under tension. Remember that the capacity of an eyebolt is less as the angle between the supporting members and the object becomes less than 90 degrees.When it is necessary to remove a component at an angle, only use a link bracket that is properly rated for the weight.

(A) Maximum Allowable Thread Depth on Hoist Ring is 27 mm (1.063 inch)
(B) 48 mm (1.89 inch) (As large as possible or the hoist ring will coin case with lift angles)
(C) M16 x 2.0 Eyebolts are not recommended for lifting this transmission. Suitable center-pull style hoist rings are recommended only for lifting angles of 60° and greater from horizontal. Lift angles that are less than 60° from horizontal are not acceptable.

Use a hoist to remove heavy components. Use an adjustable lifting beam to lift the transmission. All supporting members (chains and cables) should be parallel to each other. The chains and cables should be perpendicular to the top of the object that is being lifted. Alterations to lifting eyes or fixtures will make lifting eyes and fixtures obsolete. Eyebolts are not recommended for lifting this transmission. Suitable center-pull style hoist rings are recommended.Acceptable lifting points for CX31–P600 Transmissions are indicated in Illustrations 4 and 5. The ECPC modulating valve guard needs to be on the transmission if the transmission is being placed on the base supports in order to protect against tipping on the side.Care must be taken when lifting in order to avoid damaging the following components that are mounted externally on the transmission: ECU, ECPC valves, solenoids, wire harness and sensors.Some removals require lifting fixtures in order to obtain proper balance and safety. For lifting objects, use properly rated cables and properly rated slings. Position the crane for a level lift of the transmission. Consult your Caterpillar dealer for information regarding fixtures for proper lifting of your transmission.Spreader bar widths should be sufficient for preventing contact with the transmission.
