Turn the keyswitch OFF.
Disconnect the connectors for the speed timing sensors. This will prevent the engine from starting.
Disconnect the connector for the control valve. This will prevent the control valve from opening during the leak test.
Remove the valve covers.
Wipe all of the engine oil away from the following components:
Face seals for the intake valve actuators
Connection between the cylinder head and the valve cover base
Plugged ports on the intake valve actuators
Plugged ports on the valve cover base
The solenoids for the intake valve actuatorNote: Do not crank the engine for more than 30 seconds.Note: It may be necessary to have a second person crank the engine while you check for leaks.
Crank the engine.
Check for oil leaks around all of the components under the valve cover.
Verify that all of the ports in the oil rail are plugged.
Verify that the oil flows through the bleed orifice on the
