Woodward Actuator
DO NOT attempt internal adjustment of the governor. Make sure that the fuel and control linkage is free and does not bind.
Check Oil Level
Check the oil level in the sight gauge. If the oil level is below level on sight gauge, add oil.
Oil contamination is a major cause of governor/actuator problems. Ensure use of new, clean oil.
Check the Governor/Actuator oil level and fill with SAE 10W30 or 10W40 oil for normal governor operating temperature range of 0 to 99°C (32 to 210°F).PGEV Governor
Fill with oil to a level between lines on sight glass or to line on sight glass (for models with only one line). Sump capacity is 1.5 to 1.9 liter (1.6 to 2 U.S. quart). The oil level must be checked again immediately after the engine is started and the oil level adjusted to the black line in the sight gauge. To ensure level is correct, AFTER starting engine, move throttle from IDLE position to notch 2 to allow load control pilot valve plunger to change position and fill rheostat cavity.Changing load with the throttle a few times to fill cavity. The cavity is full when oil completely fills area behind indicator glass.EGB-P Governor
Fill with oil until the level of oil drains out of the vent hole in the sight glass. Sump capacity is 1.4 liter (1.5 U.S. quart). To adjust the oil level to this point, add or drain oil.Cooling System
Make sure you read and understand the information in the Safety and Cooling System Specifications sections of this manual before you proceed with maintenance of the cooling system.
Check Coolant Level
* Check the position of the float in the sight gauge. At normal operating temperature, the coolant level float should be in the upper half of the sight gauge.
Typical ExampleIf Coolant is Low
Refer to the Cooling System Specifications section in this publication for all information pertaining to water, antifreeze and supplemental coolant additive requirements before performing this maintenance procedure.1. Stop the engine and allow the engine to cool before performing this maintenance procedure.2. Release vent valve slowly to relieve pressure. Remove filler cap and inspect condition of cap gasket. Replace cap if gaskets are damaged.3. Maintain the coolant level within 13 mm (1/2 inch) below the bottom of the fill pipe or to the proper level (upper half) on the sight glass (if equipped) by adding make-up coolant. Install the filler cap.4. Inspect for leaks or damaged piping. Make repairs if necessary. Inspect and clean the cooling radiator fins to keep them free of dirt and debris.Air Tank
Drain water and Sediment
This maintenance should be performed daily (or as necessary) to remove water and sediment. Water in the air system could freeze, corrode internal parts or cause the air system to malfunction.Drain moisture and sediment from the air reservoir at each running shop (terminal) inspection.
When opening the drain valve, wear protective gloves, protective face shield, protective clothing and protective shoes. Pressurized air could cause debris to be blown and result in personal injury.
