Ejector Valve (Speed Change) (1) Spring in valve (2) Shims (3) Inner spring (4) Outer springRefer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Machine Preparation for Troubleshooting".The ejector valve is located on the left side of the ejector cylinder. The oil pressure gauge that is used to check the setting for the speed change in the ejector valve is installed at the location of the plug that was removed from the elbow on the oil pump. Refer to the pressure gauge installation in Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Relief Valve (Main) - Test and Adjust".The bowl must be full in order to test the pressure of the speed change when the load in the bowl is ejected.
Start the engine. Run the engine at approximately 1000 rpm. Look at the pressure gauge when the ejector control lever is slowly moved toward the EJECT position.
The reading on the gauge will be at 12765 170 kPa (1851 25 psi). The pressure will increase for a moment as the ejector valve makes the speed change. The reading will then be at the pressure that is needed to move the load. As the load flows out of the bowl, less pressure is needed. When the pressure reading decreases to approximately 5690 kPa (825 psi), the reading will then be at the oil pressure that is needed to move the load. If the control lever is held in the EJECT position, the reading will increase to the relief valve pressure.If it is necessary to change the high pressure setting for the ejector valve, remove the four bolts through the cover over springs (3) and (4) and shims (2). The shims, the springs, a retainer and a valve stem can come out of the ejector valve when the cover is removed. Remove shim (2) in order to decrease the pressure setting of the ejector valve. Add shim (2) in order to increase the pressure setting of the ejector valve.Note: One 3J-2979 Shim will change the pressure setting approximately 415 kPa (60 psi).
