Accumulated grease and oil on a machine is a fire hazard. Remove this debris with steam cleaning or high pressure water, at least every 1000 hours or each time any significant quantity of oil is spilled on a machine.
Perform the following procedures on a daily basis.

Inspection points for hydraulic cylinders
Inspect the hydraulic system for leaks. Inspect the hydraulic cylinders and inspect the cylinder rods and seals for damage or for excessive wear. Inspect the linkage and the work tool for damage or for excessive wear. Make any necessary repairs.

Inspect the following additional components:
the hydraulic tank
the hoses
the tubes
the plugs
the connecting joints
the hydraulic fittingsCorrect any leaks in the hydraulic system.Inspect the final drives for leaks. Make any necessary repairs. Check the oil level if you see leakage.Inspect the swing drive for leaks. Make any necessary repairs.

Inspection points for lights
Inspect the lights for broken bulbs and for broken lenses. Replace any broken components.Inspect the engine compartment for any trash buildup. Remove any trash buildup from the engine compartment.Inspect the cooling system for any leaks, for faulty hoses, and for any trash buildup. Correct any leaks, and remove any trash from the radiator.Inspect all of the belts for the engine attachments. Replace any belts that are worn, frayed, or broken.Make sure that all covers and guards are securely attached. Inspect the covers and the guards for damage.

Inspection points for steps, covers, guards, and walkways
Inspect the steps, the walkways, and the handholds. Clean the steps, the walkways, and the handholds. Make any necessary repairs.Inspect the Falling Object Protective Structure for damage. Tighten any loose bolts. If repairs are needed, consult your Caterpillar dealer. Inspect the operator compartment for trash buildup. Check for trash buildup under the floorplate. Keep these areas clean.Adjust the rear view mirrors for the best operator vision.
